Job Title: Operation Theatre Manager

Job Summary: The Operation Theatre Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth functioning, coordination, and management of all activities in the operation theatres. This role ensures patient safety, adherence to clinical standards, efficient utilization of resources, and effective team management to deliver high-quality surgical care.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, confirm your Job Descriptions with the Interviewer:

  • Operational Management:
    • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day functioning of the operation theatres.
    • Ensure availability of required equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled and emergency surgeries.
    • Prepare and maintain OT schedules in consultation with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing teams.
  • Patient Safety & Quality:
    • Enforce strict adherence to infection control, sterilization protocols, and safety standards.
    • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, NABH/JCI standards, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, supervise, and support OT nurses, technicians, and support staff.
    • Allocate staff duties and manage shift rosters.
    • Conduct training, skill development, and performance evaluations of OT staff.
  • Resource & Inventory Management:
    • Oversee maintenance and calibration of OT equipment.
    • Monitor usage and manage inventory of surgical instruments, consumables, and drugs.
    • Coordinate with procurement and biomedical teams for timely replenishment and repairs.
  • Coordination & Communication:
    • Act as a link between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and hospital administration.
    • Manage surgical scheduling to minimize delays and maximize efficiency.
    • Handle conflict resolution and promote teamwork within OT staff.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, staff assignments, and OT utilization.
    • Generate reports on OT performance, efficiency, infection control, and incident reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing / GNM.
  • Specialized training or certification in OT management preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in operation theatre services.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, and hospital quality standards.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies efficiently.
  • Knowledge of NABH/JCI accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in hospital information systems and reporting tools.
