- Student Advising:
- Provide one-on-one academic counseling to students to help them develop educational plans and set career goals.
- Assist students in selecting courses, majors, and extracurricular activities that align with their interests and aspirations.
- Monitor student progress and provide support to help them overcome academic challenges.
- Program Information:
- Educate students about the academic programs and resources available to them.
- Explain university policies, procedures, and requirements related to academic progression and graduation.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in academic programs and inform students accordingly.
- Career Counseling:
- Guide students in exploring career options and planning their career paths.
- Provide information on job market trends, internship opportunities, and employment prospects.
- Assist students in preparing resumes, cover letters, and for job interviews.
- Workshops and Seminars:
- Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and information sessions on topics such as study skills, time management, and career planning.
- Collaborate with faculty and other departments to create and deliver relevant programs and initiatives.
- Student Support:
- Offer emotional and motivational support to students dealing with personal or academic issues.
- Refer students to appropriate resources such as tutoring services, mental health counseling, and financial aid as needed.
- Develop and implement retention strategies to support at-risk students.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the institution.
Qualifications:
- Any degree.
- 1 year proven experience as an Academic Counsellor or in a similar educational support role. Freshers can also apply.
- Strong knowledge of academic programs, policies, and student resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a standard office environment.
- Ability to conduct counseling sessions and workshops in person and virtually as needed.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work based on student needs and institutional requirements.
