Job Title: Lab Technician

Sample Collection and Preparation

  • Collect and label patient samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) following established protocols.
  • Prepare samples for testing, ensuring proper handling and storage to maintain integrity.
  • Verify patient information and documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Laboratory Testing and Analysis

  • Perform routine and specialized tests using laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure accurate results.
  • Record and interpret test results, identifying abnormalities and reporting findings to physicians or supervisors.

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the reliability and accuracy of test results.
  • Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and reagents, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages.

Collaboration and Support

  • Collaborate with medical staff to prioritize and process urgent tests or requests.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 1–3 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory setting preferred.
  • Certifications: Certification from a recognized accrediting body (e.g., ASCP, AMT) is advantageous.
