Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician

  1. Emergency Medical Response:
    • Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess the scene for safety.
    • Evaluate patients’ conditions and determine appropriate medical treatment.
    • Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures, such as CPR, wound care, and airway management.
  2. Patient Stabilization and Transport:
    • Stabilize patients using techniques and equipment, such as splints, backboards, and oxygen therapy.
    • Safely transport patients to hospitals or medical facilities in ambulances.
    • Monitor patients’ vital signs during transport and communicate updates to receiving medical staff.
  3. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, medical personnel, and patients’ families.
    • Provide clear, concise patient information to emergency room staff upon arrival.
    • Work collaboratively with paramedics, police, and fire personnel at emergency scenes.
  4. Documentation:
    • Document patient information, treatment provided, and observations accurately in reports.
    • Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for medical records.
  5. Equipment Maintenance:
    • Inspect, clean, and maintain medical equipment and vehicles to ensure readiness.
    • Report and address equipment malfunctions or shortages promptly.
  6. Education and Training:
    • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to maintain skills and knowledge.
    • Stay updated on advancements in emergency medical care and protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Educational Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of a state-approved EMT training program.
    • Certification as an EMT (e.g., NREMT or equivalent state certification).
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  3. Key Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of basic medical procedures and emergency protocols.
    • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Physical stamina to handle strenuous tasks, such as lifting patients or heavy equipment.
