Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician

- Emergency Medical Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess the scene for safety.
- Evaluate patients’ conditions and determine appropriate medical treatment.
- Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures, such as CPR, wound care, and airway management.
- Patient Stabilization and Transport:
- Stabilize patients using techniques and equipment, such as splints, backboards, and oxygen therapy.
- Safely transport patients to hospitals or medical facilities in ambulances.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs during transport and communicate updates to receiving medical staff.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, medical personnel, and patients’ families.
- Provide clear, concise patient information to emergency room staff upon arrival.
- Work collaboratively with paramedics, police, and fire personnel at emergency scenes.
- Documentation:
- Document patient information, treatment provided, and observations accurately in reports.
- Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for medical records.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect, clean, and maintain medical equipment and vehicles to ensure readiness.
- Report and address equipment malfunctions or shortages promptly.
- Education and Training:
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to maintain skills and knowledge.
- Stay updated on advancements in emergency medical care and protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved EMT training program.
- Certification as an EMT (e.g., NREMT or equivalent state certification).
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of basic medical procedures and emergency protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to handle strenuous tasks, such as lifting patients or heavy equipment.
