Job Title: Senior Waiter

Job Description: The Senior Waiter is responsible for ensuring exceptional dining experiences by providing professional and courteous service to guests. They oversee the smooth operation of the dining area, support junior staff, and ensure adherence to service standards. The Senior Waiter acts as a liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages.

Guest Service

  • Greet and seat guests promptly, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Provide detailed information about menu items, including ingredients, dietary options, and preparation methods.
  • Make personalized recommendations and upsell food and beverage options.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that guest requests are met in a timely manner.

Operational Duties

  • Oversee the setup, cleanliness, and organization of the dining area.
  • Ensure tables are correctly set with appropriate utensils, napkins, and condiments.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure food is served in a timely manner.
  • Perform end-of-shift duties, including reconciliation of orders and cleanliness checks.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and inform management of shortages.

Leadership and Training

  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior waitstaff.
  • Lead by example, maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure efficient service.
  • Provide feedback to team members and contribute to performance evaluations.

Compliance and Safety

  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring all staff follow protocols.
  • Monitor proper food handling and storage practices.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and trends to maintain quality service.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in hospitality or food service management is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Handling hot dishes and beverages, and occasionally heavy lifting.
