Job Description: A Transport Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a company’s transportation needs. This role involves coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods, vehicles, and drivers to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. The Transport Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining schedules, managing costs, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards.

- Planning and Scheduling:
- Organize and schedule transportation routes for maximum efficiency.
- Coordinate delivery times, routes, and driver assignments.
- Fleet Management:
- Monitor and maintain the condition of vehicles.
- Arrange for vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Driver Coordination:
- Assign tasks and schedules to drivers.
- Ensure drivers have the necessary licenses, training, and compliance documentation.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the transportation team, clients, and internal departments.
- Communicate updates, delays, or issues promptly to all stakeholders.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to transportation regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety checks and maintain records of vehicle inspections.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor and control transportation costs.
- Optimize routes and load planning to reduce fuel consumption and expenses.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle usage, and driver logs.
- Generate and present reports on transportation performance and metrics.
- Problem-Solving:
- Handle transportation-related issues, such as delays or vehicle breakdowns, quickly and effectively.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: Minimum 2years of relevant experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with transportation regulations, safety standards, and geographic routes.
- Licenses: A valid driver’s license may be required.
