Job Title: MRD Technician
Job Description:The MRD Technician is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and safeguarding patient medical records. They ensure that records are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with legal, ethical, and organizational requirements. The role involves interacting with healthcare professionals, ensuring proper documentation processes, and facilitating the seamless retrieval of information for clinical and administrative purposes.

- Medical Records Management
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic medical records.
- Ensure records are stored securely to maintain confidentiality.
- Retrieve records for healthcare providers, audits, or legal purposes.
- Documentation and Data Entry
- Accurately input patient information into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Flag and resolve discrepancies in medical data with healthcare staff.
- Compliance and Legal Standards
- Ensure records adhere to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) or local data protection laws.
- Assist in compliance audits and inspections.
- Maintain records retention schedules and oversee proper disposal of outdated files.
- Interdepartmental Coordination
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper documentation protocols are followed.
- Provide records for research, insurance claims, and billing departments as needed.
- Train staff on the proper handling and management of medical records.
- Technology and System Maintenance
- Operate and maintain electronic medical records systems (EMR/EHR).
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues related to record management software.
- Participate in the implementation of new record management technologies.
- Reporting and Analytics
- Generate reports on patient data as requested by healthcare providers or administrators.
- Monitor trends and patterns in record-keeping to suggest improvements.
- Maintain statistical data on departmental efficiency and compliance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD, CPT, etc.).
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and healthcare regulations.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and health information systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
