Job Title: IP Billing Executive

Job Description: An IP Billing Executive is a professional responsible for managing and processing billing activities related to inpatient (IP) services in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals or clinics. Their primary role revolves around ensuring accurate and timely generation of bills, verifying patient records, coordinating with various departments, and maintaining compliance with billing and insurance protocols.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, confirm your Job Descriptions with the Interviewer:

Billing Process Management:

  • Generate accurate inpatient bills by collating charges for room rent, procedures, medications, investigations, and other hospital services.
  • Verify patient records, admission details, discharge summaries, and departmental charge sheets for completeness and accuracy.

Insurance Coordination:

  • Coordinate with the insurance desk to ensure pre-authorization and approvals are in place for cashless treatments.
  • Process claims for insured patients and follow up on pending approvals or discrepancies.

Patient Interaction:

  • Explain bills to patients or their family members, clarifying queries regarding charges and payment terms.
  • Collect payments from patients or ensure smooth handover to the insurance department for claim settlements.

Documentation and Records:

  • Maintain detailed records of all billing transactions, patient invoices, and receipts.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and local regulations related to billing and documentation.

Coordination with Departments:

  • Liaise with clinical departments, pharmacy, pathology, and radiology for accurate billing of services provided.
  • Resolve discrepancies in charges or service records promptly.

Auditing and Reporting:

  • Conduct routine audits of inpatient bills to minimize errors and address inconsistencies.
  • Generate periodic reports on inpatient billing for management review.

Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and hospital standards in billing processes.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance policies and medical billing codes.

Education and Experience

UG/PG with minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare industry.

  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of hospital billing systems and medical terminologies.
    • Proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Knowledge of insurance claim processes and cashless settlement procedures.
