Job Summary: To manage and oversee all purchasing activities for medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and non-medical supplies, ensuring timely availability of quality materials at competitive prices while complying with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, confirm your Job Descriptions with the Interviewer:

1. Procurement Management

  • Plan, organize, and manage the purchase of medical equipment, consumables, pharmaceuticals, and hospital supplies.
  • Source and evaluate vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers and service providers.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or overstocking.

2. Vendor & Contract Management

  • Develop and maintain vendor databases and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Conduct supplier audits and evaluate performance based on delivery, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure vendor contracts are aligned with hospital procurement policies and legal requirements.

3. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare and monitor annual procurement budgets.
  • Analyze purchase data to identify cost-saving opportunities and procurement efficiency.
  • Implement standardization and rate contracts for commonly used items.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulatory requirements (FDA, NABH, ISO, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.
  • Coordinate with the finance department for timely payments and reconciliation.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with user departments (pharmacy, nursing, biomedical engineering, maintenance, etc.) to understand requirements and priorities.
  • Work closely with logistics and stores teams for timely receipt and distribution of materials.

6. Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare procurement reports (purchase summary, consumption analysis, vendor performance, cost variance).
  • Use ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or hospital information systems) for procurement tracking and analysis.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualifications: MBA with minimum 5 years of experience in Healthcare industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in ERP/procurement software.
    • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
    • Understanding of medical consumables, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
