Job Title: Operation Theatre Manager
Job Summary: The Operation Theatre Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and efficient functioning of all operation theatres within the hospital. The role ensures that surgical procedures are conducted smoothly, safely, and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, infection control, and staff performance.

1. Operational Management
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily operation theatre schedules to ensure optimal use of OT resources.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure timely execution of surgical procedures.
- Supervise and ensure availability of required surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Monitor OT turnaround times and implement process improvements for efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, safety, and quality standards.
2. Staff Management
- Supervise, train, and evaluate OT nursing and support staff.
- Prepare staff duty rosters and manage attendance and leave schedules.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication among OT personnel.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs.
3. Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols.
- Monitor adherence to surgical safety checklists (WHO or institutional).
- Participate in audits, accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and equipment failures.
4. Inventory and Equipment Management
- Oversee procurement, maintenance, and calibration of OT instruments and equipment.
- Maintain optimal stock levels of surgical consumables and sterile supplies.
- Liaise with biomedical and supply chain teams for preventive maintenance and repairs.
5. Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
- Prepare OT utilization reports, surgical statistics, and performance dashboards.
- Participate in departmental and hospital management meetings.
- Contribute to budget planning and cost-control measures for OT operations.
- Ensure documentation accuracy (patient records, checklists, registers).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.Sc Nursing/ GNM.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in OT Service.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Sound knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and aseptic techniques
- Proficiency in hospital management systems and scheduling software
