Job Designation: Rebar Worker, Skilled Formworker (Construction)

In Romania’s construction industry, workers specializing in rebar and formwork play vital roles in building infrastructure, residential, and commercial structures, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and quality in construction projects.

Rebar Worker:

  • Fabricating, assembling, and installing reinforcing steel bars (rebar) according to structural plans, blueprints, and engineering specifications to reinforce concrete structures, such as foundations, columns, beams, and walls.
  • Cutting, bending, and tying rebar using manual tools or mechanical equipment, such as rebar benders, cutters, and tier guns, to meet design requirements, dimensions, and spacing for concrete reinforcement.
  • Collaborating with construction supervisors, engineers, and fellow tradespeople to coordinate rebar installation, resolve construction challenges, and maintain alignment, spacing, and stability of rebar within concrete forms.

Skilled Formworker:

  • Constructing, erecting, and dismantling formwork systems, molds, and templates used to shape and support freshly poured concrete in various construction applications, including slabs, walls, columns, and bridges.
  • Reading and interpreting formwork drawings, plans, and blueprints to determine formwork dimensions, configurations, and assembly sequences, and selecting appropriate materials, tools, and techniques for formwork construction.
  • Performing carpentry, framing, and joinery tasks to build formwork structures from wood, metal, or composite materials, and ensuring accuracy, strength, and durability of formwork systems to withstand concrete pouring and curing processes.

Their responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating technical expertise, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in executing rebar and formwork tasks with precision, efficiency, and safety in compliance with industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Adhering to workplace safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and job hazard assessments to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage during construction operations.
  • Collaborating with construction team members, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to coordinate workflow, resolve construction conflicts, and achieve project milestones, deadlines, and quality objectives.
