Job Summary: The Care Taker is responsible for assisting residents with daily living activities and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment in a care home setting. The role includes providing physical support, emotional care, and facilitating social activities for residents.
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Resident Assistance:
- Help residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist with mobility and transferring residents from beds to wheelchairs or other locations.
- Support residents with eating and drinking as needed.
- Health Monitoring:
- Monitor residents’ health and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Assist with taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Daily Activities:
- Encourage and assist residents in participating in social and recreational activities.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.
- Help residents maintain their independence and dignity.
- Household Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in residents’ rooms and common areas.
- Assist with laundry and other household tasks as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by following all care home policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular training on health and safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in caregiving or healthcare assistance is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a caregiving or healthcare setting is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Compassionate and empathetic nature.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move residents as required.
- Capability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to assist residents with daily activities.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working in a care home setting, which requires adherence to strict health and safety protocols.
- May involve working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
