Job Summery: Heavy Drivers, also known as truck drivers or heavy vehicle operators, play a crucial role in transporting goods and materials over short and long distances. They are responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles, adhering to traffic laws and regulations, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to :

  • Vehicle Operation: Safely operate heavy vehicles such as trucks, tractor-trailers, or buses to transport goods or passengers.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload cargo or goods, ensuring they are properly secured for transport.
  • Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to reach destinations on time, considering factors such as traffic, road conditions, and weather.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, including checking oil, tires, brakes, and other essential components.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery schedules.
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients and customers during pickup and delivery, ensuring satisfaction and addressing any concerns.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and legal operation of vehicles.
  • Emergency Response: Handle emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or adverse weather conditions responsibly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • License: Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience as a heavy driver preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent driving skills, including maneuvering large vehicles in various conditions; strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in all weather conditions.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of oneself and others on the road.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily involves driving heavy vehicles over local, regional, or long-haul routes.
  • Varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, long hours of sitting, and adverse weather conditions while on the road.
