Job Title: Steel Fixer

Job Summary: As a steel fixer, you will be responsible for accurately interpreting construction drawings, assembling steel reinforcements, and securely placing them within concrete forms to reinforce structures. Your role is critical in ensuring the integrity, strength, and durability of concrete buildings and infrastructure.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. Interpreting Construction Drawings: Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the layout and dimensions of steel reinforcements required for each project.
  2. Preparing Reinforcements: Cut, bend, and shape steel bars and mesh using cutting torches, saws, and bending machines to meet project requirements.
  3. Assembling Steel Reinforcements: Fabricate steel bars and mesh into cages, mats, or other configurations as specified by engineering drawings.
  4. Installing Reinforcements: Position and secure steel reinforcements within concrete forms or structures, ensuring they are accurately placed, aligned, and spaced according to design requirements.
  5. Securing Reinforcements: Use tying methods, wire, bolts, or welding techniques to fasten steel bars together and to structural components securely.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of proven experience as a steel fixer or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to use cutting torches, saws, bending machines, and other hand and power tools effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of rebar installation techniques, including tying, bolting, and welding.
  • Basic knowledge in English.

Working Conditions:

  • Work typically takes place outdoors or in construction sites, exposing you to various weather conditions.
  • May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and around heavy equipment and machinery.
