Job Summary: An Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment. Working in a variety of settings, such as residential, commercial, or industrial environments, Electrical Technicians ensure that electrical systems are functioning efficiently and safely. This role requires technical expertise in electrical wiring, circuit boards, and various electrical components.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Installation & Maintenance:
- Install electrical systems, wiring, and components based on blueprints or technical specifications.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Diagnose electrical issues and determine solutions using test equipment, meters, and electrical schematics.
- Repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, outlets, and other electrical components.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local safety codes and regulations.
- Follow established safety procedures when working with electrical systems, including using protective gear and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Upgrades & Installations:
- Upgrade and modify electrical systems to meet new requirements or improve efficiency.
- Install lighting, electrical outlets, and wiring for new construction or renovation projects.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and installations performed.
- Report issues or malfunctions to supervisors or management and suggest corrective measures.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is often required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and electrical codes.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
