Department: Health care industry
Country Description: Bulgaria is a country located in Southeast Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. Known for its rich history and diverse cultural heritage, Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe, dating back to 681 AD. The country boasts a variety of landscapes, from the mountainous regions of the Rila and Pirin ranges to the fertile plains along the Danube River. Its capital, Sofia, is a vibrant city with a mix of ancient Roman ruins and modern architecture.
Industry Description: The healthcare industry in Bulgaria is a mixed system comprising both public and private sectors, with the public system being the primary provider of medical services. Funded by mandatory health insurance contributions, the public healthcare system offers universal coverage to all citizens, though it often faces challenges such as underfunding, outdated infrastructure, and staff shortages, particularly in rural areas.
