Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Overview: A Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, analyzing samples, and assisting medical professionals in diagnosing diseases. They work in hospitals, diagnostic labs, research institutions, and healthcare facilities to ensure accurate and efficient lab operations.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Sample Collection & Processing:
- Collect and prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other biological samples for analysis.
- Label, store, and handle specimens following laboratory protocols.
- Laboratory Testing & Analysis:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests using equipment like microscopes, spectrometers, and automated analyzers.
- Analyze test results and report findings to doctors or medical staff.
- Equipment Maintenance & Calibration:
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and report malfunctions.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure lab safety regulations are met.
- Maintain accurate records of tests, results, and quality control procedures.
- Data Entry & Reporting:
- Record findings in laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Prepare and submit reports to healthcare providers.
- Safety & Hygiene Compliance:
- Follow strict health and safety guidelines to prevent contamination or accidents.
- Dispose of hazardous materials properly according to laboratory regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
✅ Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Biomedical Science, or a related field.
- Certification from a recognized health authority (if required).
✅ Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and medical terminologies.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Knowledge of biosafety and infection control protocols.
