Job Summary: The IV Collection & Bedside Nurse is responsible for administering intravenous (IV) therapy, collecting blood samples, and providing bedside care to patients. This role requires strong nursing skills, attention to patient comfort, and adherence to medical protocols. The nurse will work closely with doctors and healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
IV Collection & Administration:
- Perform venipuncture for IV therapy and blood sample collection.
- Prepare and administer IV medications and fluids as per physician orders.
- Monitor IV sites for signs of infection, infiltration, or complications.
- Maintain accurate records of IV administration and fluid intake/output.
Bedside Nursing Care:
- Assist patients with daily activities, including hygiene, mobility, and comfort.
- Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, injections, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Provide emotional support and patient education regarding treatment plans.
Patient Safety & Documentation:
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of care provided.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and assist in resuscitation efforts if needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (BSC) (GNM).
- License & Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) license; IV therapy certification preferred
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in IV therapy and bedside nursing
- Skills: Strong venipuncture skills, patient care, attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills
Work Environment:
- Hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
